Celebrating AANHP Heritage Month

In celebration of American Asian Native Hawaiian Pasifika (AANHP) Heritage month, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and honor the history, culture and contributions of our AANHP community.

Recognizing heritage months provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the diverse communities that make up our region and to better understand how systemic racism has impacted these communities, both past and present, and the work we can do together to help dismantle it.

Rider alternatives available for routes suspended Sept. 2, 2023

King County Metro announced temporary service reductions that will go into effect at the Fall Service Change, on Sept. 2, 2023.  

These temporary reductions will match our schedule to what we are currently able to operate on a daily basis. This will mean a more reliable schedule for riders, instead of the daily cancellation of approximately 5% of our scheduled service.  

Metro will adjust schedules on Sept. 2 to improve trip reliability

"King County Metro will increase reliability and build resiliency with its fall update to transit schedules. The agency currently is delivering 95% of more than 11,200 daily bus trips while facing challenges with canceled trips. The changes beginning in September will ensure riders can have confidence knowing that Metro will be there no matter where they need to go."

Long-term closure of 115th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue scheduled to start May 8

The road will close between 116th Avenue Northeast near the I-405 interchange and the Cedar Terrace apartment complex off 115th Avenue Northeast. Signed detours using Northup Way, 108th Avenue Northeast and 111th Avenue Northeast will guide travelers around the work zone.

King County’s Trailhead Direct, the weekends and holidays transit-to-trails service returns

King County’s Trailhead Direct, the weekends and holidays transit-to-trails service, will begin its fifth season on Saturday, May 13, and run through Labor Day, Monday, September 4. Metro and King County Parks, with the support of the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and Amazon, are working together to provide funding for the 2023 season.

Metro Transit Alert - Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel disruptions: Service alternatives available during repairs

From King County Metro: Damage to the ceiling of the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel (DSTT) at Westlake Station is disrupting Sound Transit Link 1 Line service until further notice. Riders should prepare for additional travel times as trains are operating every 15-20 minutes in the DSTT.

New Lynnwood Station garage to open for parking

Monday, April 17, Sound Transit will opened the new parking garage at the Lynnwood Transit Center to serve current transit riders and future Link light rail riders. The new garage contains 1,670 parking stalls in a five-story structure. Along with adjacent surface lots containing 226 stalls, the Lynnwood City Center Station has nearly 1,900 parking stalls, approximately 500 more than those on the current transit center site.

Nightly lane reductions are planned Sundays through Thursdays, starting Sunday, March 12, through Thursday, March 30. Sunday night work hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Weeknight work hours are 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. All westbound lanes will be open on Friday and Saturday nights.

Due to low utilization, Houghton Park-and-Ride will close March 18, 2023

From King County Metro: King County Metro is scheduled to close the Houghton Park-and-Ride on March 18, 2023, due to low utilization. Based on observations, about five vehicles park at this location to regularly access transit, about 3 percent of the 470-vehicle parking lot.
