Bellevue After Dark Travel Campaign: a Week of Sustainable Fun!

From November 17 – 23, the Bellevue After Dark travel challenge lit up the city with a week-long commuter challenge designed to showcase Bellevue’s vibrant after-dark activities. The campaign encouraged residents and visitors to explore the city using sustainable transportation methods such as biking, walking, carpooling, and public transit and log their trips with Choose Your Way Bellevue. From gliding across the Bellevue Ice Rink to holiday shopping sprees, attending work parties, or enjoying cultural events at the Meydenbauer Center, participants embraced the challenge to leave their cars behind and discover a greener way to move.   

The Winners Are In! 

Participants who logged the highest number of trips received exciting rewards for their commitment to sustainable modes of transportation.  A huge congratulations to our top participants for their outstanding efforts during Bellevue After Dark:

  • Sustainable transportation trips taken by mode:

  • Bus trips: 735 
  • Carpool trips: 194 
  • Light Rail trips: 16 
  • Vanpool trips: 29 
  • Walk trips: 146

Environmental and Economic Savings 

The challenge didn’t just help participants enjoy Bellevue in new ways; it also made a measurable difference for their wallets and our planet: 

  • Monetary Savings: $2,129 
  • Carbon Dioxide Emissions Saved: 5,215 lbs 
  • Gasoline Saved: 287 gallons
